WHY EARTH FRIENDLY MATERIAL?

It’s a joy to work with it. Plus, every WLDWLK garment can save a turtle!

RECycled NYLON

And ELASTAN from fishing nets

Top-quality, recycled fabric made from regenerated nylon yarn that comes from industrial waste such as discarded fishing nets and carpet fuzz, of which eight million tonnes end up at the bottom of the seas every year.

The use of this material supports the “Healthy Seas” initiative, whose mission is to clean up our planet’s waters. Dead fishing nets and carpets are regenerated using a sophisticated process and are transformed into new  ECONYL® polyamide yarn, which boasts the same properties as virgin nylon. A significant difference lies in the fact that this yarn is not made from non-renewable fossil raw materials.

This is the true essence of this high-quality, ultra-comfortable, soft and fast-drying material with OEKO-TEX® | STANDARD 100 and Global Recycled Standard certifications.

It features other properties such as high sustainability, breathability, perfect elasticity, scuff resistance and SPF 50+ protection against UV radiation.

recycled cotton and polyester from pet bottles

How to transform fabric remnants, old discarded clothes, crumpled PET water bottles and detergent bottles into environmentally friendly fabric?

The process of producing fabric from old clothes starts with sorting them into lower- and higher-quality fabrics. The fabrics are cut into small pieces, which are subsequently pulverised and dissolved. The dissolved pieces are then reintegrated into fibres, from which new fabric is made.

A similar process is used in the production of fabric from PET bottles. PET bottles are ground into small flakes, which are melted and transformed into yarn under high pressure.

These fabrics are in compliance with strict regulations on harmlessness and fulfil high standards of quality, and can thus boast OEKO-TEX® | STANDARD 100 and Global Recycled Standard certifications.

recycled fabrics

Recycled fabrics are not made from non-renewable fossil raw materials. The carbon footprint of recycled material is up to 50% smaller in comparison with organic carbon and 90% smaller than that of standard nylon. Production of recycled polyester also uses up to 90% less water and 70% less energy.

Linen

Shrouded in beauty, you feel the wind on your skin. Clothed unclothed, breathing with your whole body. Linen is ecological and environmentally friendly to the maximum possible extent. Far fewer pesticides and fertilisers are used in its cultivation that with other crops. Its fibres are recyclable and biodegradable. It does not need to be fertilised or treated with pesticides. It is not necessary to use any chemical agents in the production of linen fabrics.

VIScÓse

Viscose is a natural cellulosic fibre that is produced in a similar way to man-made fibres (by extruding a liquid mass through nozzles), but the basic raw material is entirely natural – cellulosic material derived from wood or cotton. Clothing made from viscose is very comfortable to wear, as it is soft, absorbent, flowing and cooling. Rayon does not pill and does not give rise to static electricity, so it doesn’t attract dust and lint.

Viscose certified by the company Lenzing is another step toward reducing the environmental footprint.  Lenzing EcoVeroTM viscose fulfils three basic criteria for sustainable material: conditions of cultivation (use of sustainable sources of wood), reduction of water consumption (by 50% in comparison with standard rayon, by up to 95% in comparison with standard cotton), reduction of the carbon footprint by 50% in comparison with ordinary viscose.

COROZO

Also known as vegetal ivory, corozo is a material made from the nuts of Tagua palms that fall to the ground. The palms are a normal part of the rain forest, so no plantations are established and no deforestation happens. Corozo is a strong and durable material that is compostable and retains its natural ivory-like structure after it has been dyed. All of the buttons you find on our clothes are made of corozo.

NO WASTE PACKAGING

We have also cut out packaging. And where a few accessories and tags remain, they aren’t wasted, but reused – on trips overseas, in the mountains or on city streets.

RECYCLED PACKAGING

Where fabric is not ideal for the production of packaging, or there isn’t any left, we pack our goods in paper made entirely from recycled hemp that has already been used or recycled again. It is completely biodegradable.
