TERY

The founder and wild heart of the WILD WALK brand. Dog mom, nomadic soul with the spirit of a Tasmanian devil who loves to create and be outdoors. Lover of board sports, Frisbee and recycled art. With her dogs and Crohn's disease, she travels through life wherever the wilderness takes her breath.

Your wildest inspiration?

In the waves of the ocean, in the rustling of the treetops, in the taste of a homemade burrito around the corner, in the song that sounded from the window to the neighbors, in the conversations with the locals about everything. Anywhere where I see the meaning and wild joy of life. The universe always summons it from somewhere.

Do you have any rituals? In relation to nature, yourself, those around you?

Saying thank you in the morning, taking a deep breath every morning, exercising, taking an ice shower, then tea and a proper walk with my canine love. And in the wilderness, also collect what others drop. Last year it was, for example, the front bumper of a car that we dragged out of the forest.

What is your favourite song and what does it bring to your mind, where does it take you, what do you like about it?

I have maybe millions of them :) And I love the ones that remind me of the wind in my hair and spinning wheels the most. Just go on a journey, with or without a destination. But La Rua Madureira, for example, always reminds me that the ocean is already in sight.

Your greatest wild moment in life?

There are more of the biggest ones.

When the doctors told me 14 years ago that I had Crohn's disease and that I would never be able to live "normally" again and do sports like before. First ever wave in Portugal, then the biggest wave in my life, where it was either goodbye and then diving with sea turtles - my childhood dream. I will never forget that feeling.

When it comes to reading, what book do you recommend for travelling?

As in the case of music, there are perhaps a million of them. But mostly Shantaram, The Name of the Wind, Immortality, anything from the Absynth publishing house, Murakami, Lars Kepler, from Tolkien, and then I can't miss some editions of Kinfolk and art comics, now Hierba got me the most lately.

Where and when do you feel the most wild and free? Or, what do you do to feel that way?

In the water. Beauty and incredible energy unfolding on the surface and essence hidden in the depths. It's just me there, surrounded by an all-embracing wilderness that needs to be protected and respected. Then also on concrete with a skateboard, when I overcome the initial terror in my eyes, and on a scooter when I have the opportunity. Just go for a ride and leave everything behind.

Where are you getting ready to go right now? Are you coming up with any travel plans at the moment?

Home, to grandma and grandpa, to family and friends. Camp by the campfire, have a beer and a barbecue and see my beloved Krkonoše Mountains.

What occurs to you most often in your wild thoughts?

The need to stop, just be and not worry that everything is going so fast. Not to waste time, but to live in balance and for a while maybe without it to the letter. Have more offline days, time for friends, a book and everything. Take more care of that peace in yourself, that connection to a happy self. Because it doesn't work long-term without it. Also doing even more for community projects that deserve support. Life is simple.

What is your wild joy, your passion.

WILD WALK :) Create in general. Either a project that the universe will bring, or just to sit down and sketch something in a journal.

When or where do you feel a WILD CONNECTION – a connection with nature?

In almost everything I do. The way I look at things. My connection with nature plays a huge role and influences or actually shapes my daily life and my work. But it's also the ocean air, the sound of the waves, feet buried in the sand, or the smell of the forest and the singing of birds.

Food that is good for your body and soul?

Fried cheese always. No debates. Then home-made granola with a mix of fruits and well-trodden Greek yogurt, then almost any salad, noodles or rice with vegetables. Pasta of course! And when he comes to the junk food, I'll kill it with a pizza or a burger and fries. Recently, however, the Spanish tortilla with carbonara sauce has been leading the way, it has taken it to the million level :) In general, I give my body what it asks for, that's why we sew more pieces with rubber recently :)

Your wild dream or wish. It doesn’t matter whether it’s realistic or simply impossible. Maybe it will happen!

Go see whales and, if possible, even dive with them.

Your WLDWLK selection?

Jumpsuits or playsuits - I live in them all year round. Seaside dress, then also PACO pants, I really liked them. And the MAIA sweatshirt, Simply short and mostly Gypsy shirts. But actually everything, because what I design I wear myself and primarily I always wear it for a while before I find out that others like it too and you feel wildly beautiful in it. Because that's simply the most important thing.
